Biblical and Theological Foundations for Business presents a comprehensive Sola Scriptura theology of work, enterprise, money, leadership, organizational life, technology, and marketplace witness under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Rejecting both the spiritual neglect of business and the idolatrous celebration of wealth, influence, and commercial success, the book argues that economic activity is neither morally neutral nor spiritually inferior. It is a sphere of accountable stewardship in which human motives, relationships, decisions, institutions, and systems must be brought under the authority of God’s Word.
Structured around the biblical movement from creation and fall through redemption, sanctification, final judgment, and new creation, the book examines the dignity of work, the image of God, vocation, property, profit, debt, generosity, wages, contracts, corruption, family responsibility, organizational culture, servant leadership, entrepreneurship, marketing, artificial intelligence, data surveillance, global governance, and Babylonian commerce. It demonstrates how the gospel transforms not only individual workers and leaders but also the purposes, practices, cultures, and ethical boundaries of organizations.
Particular attention is given to African economic realities, including informal enterprise, youth unemployment, mobile money, digital lending, patronage, public procurement, family financial obligations, corruption, weak contract enforcement, and entrepreneurial survival in resource-constrained environments. Contemporary systems and technologies are evaluated carefully, distinguishing legitimate concerns for justice, sustainability, transparency, and innovation from ideological coercion, exploitation, manipulation, and violations of Christian conscience.
Combining biblical exposition, theological reflection, scholarly research, practical case studies, spiritual examination, organizational tools, and consolidated discussion questions, this book equips Christian professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, ministry leaders, students, and organizations to pursue diligent work without worshipping work, earn without serving mammon, lead without domination, innovate without surrendering human dignity, and participate in economic life without belonging spiritually to Babylon. Its final call is to faithful, courageous, and accountable stewardship until Jesus Christ returns.
